Set up an ad-hoc SMS template to message customers
Learn how to set up a new ad-hoc SMS template to message individual customers.

ℹ️ This refers to SMSs sent to clients on an individual basis via the Appointment Book, such as to notify them that you are running late. To set up other types of SMS campaigns, please refer to the following:
Select the appointment belonging to the customer you wish to SMS
- From the Menu navigate to Appointments. Alternatively, you can use the Appointment Book view.
- Click in the middle of the appointment to display the Details pop-up with the customer’s details.
- Click on the three dots icon on the right-hand side.
- Select "SMS customer" from the menu.
Set up a new SMS template
- Click on the "New SMS template" icon in the bottom left-hand corner.
- Name your template, then enter the message you want to use as the template.
- Ensure the Status is set to “Active”.
- You can select the “Insert field” dropdown to include personalised fields in your message, such as Customer Name, Appointment Time, and more.
- Select “Save” to save your template for further use.
⚠️Be sure to consider the following when sending individual client SMSs:
- You can only SMS customers who have a mobile number on file.
- If your customer has opted into receiving Appointment SMSs.
- How many SMSs your message will require. A single SMS uses 160 characters (including opt out instructions), so anything more will affect how many you get billed for. Note the character count is displayed at the bottom of your message.
