Setting Up Service Finish Blocks in Shortcuts
Service finish blocks are an essential feature in Shortcuts, enabling businesses to optimize appointment scheduling, ensure sufficient time for breaks, and improve efficiency for both staff and clients.
Why Use Service Finish Blocks?
- Time Management: Allocate specific time for breaks, clean-up, or prep, ensuring seamless transitions between appointments.
- Improved Client Experience: Avoid delays and ensure accurate online booking times.
- Enhanced Reporting: Maintain clear categorization for service tracking and reporting.
How to Set Up Service Finish Blocks
Step 1: Add a Finish Block to a Service
-
Navigate to your service categories and select the service you wish to edit or create a new service.
-
Define the main service duration and any break times required (e.g., processing time for hair coloring).
-
Add a finish block:
- Label it appropriately (e.g., "Finish," "Clean & Prep," or "Blow Dry").
- Set the buffer time (e.g., 15–30 minutes) based on your needs.
- Add a price of $0 unless charging for this additional time.
- Ensure the "Finishing Component" box is ticked.
Important: If a client books a combined service (e.g., color + haircut), the finish block is automatically removed to prevent duplicate time allocation.
Step 2: Assign the Correct Reporting Category
- Double-check that the initial service block is assigned to the appropriate reporting category.
- If the finish block includes a price, ensure the sales value is categorized correctly for reporting purposes, otherwise assign a zero "0" to all the columns for the block..
