How to Set Up, Sell, and Redeem Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are a great way to attract and retain clients. This guide explains how to set up, sell, and redeem gift certificates and view relevant reports.

Setting Up a Gift Certificate

  1. Navigate to Configuration

    • Go to Setup > Configuration from the left navigation panel.
    • Click Gift Certificates and press New.
  2. Enter Gift Certificate Details

    • Name: Type the name of the gift certificate.
    • Default Amount: Enter a default amount, or leave it at zero to add the amount at the point of sale.
    • Tracking Number: Tick the box to require a tracking number for easier balance tracking.
    • Expiry Date: Add an expiry to ensure accurate liability tracking.
    • Employee Credit: Enable this option if you want employees to receive a portion of the sale as credit.
    • Client Club Points: Decide if clients earn points when purchasing or redeeming gift certificates.
  3. Save Your Changes
    Press Save when all details are entered.


Selling a Gift Certificate

  1. Go to Point of Sale

    • Select the client.
    • Click on a sale line and choose Sunry as the transaction type.
  2. Select the Gift Certificate

    • Pick the gift certificate from the list and select the payment type to complete the sale.
    • If you use tracking numbers, enter it during the first sale. Future sales will auto-generate tracking numbers.
  3. Finish the Sale
    Press Done to complete.


Redeeming a Gift Certificate

  1. Go to the Payment Section

    • Click the Gift Certificate Icon.
  2. Select the Gift Certificate

    • Search for the number or edit the amount to redeem if necessary.
  3. Complete the Redemption

    • Once selected, press Done.
    • The gift certificate will deduct the amount from the outstanding balance. If a remaining balance exists, process the payment and end the sale.

View Gift Certificate Reports

Reports help track expired, expiring, and outstanding gift certificates.

  1. Navigate to Tools > Reports.
  2. Expand Business Reports.
  3. Select the desired report and press View.
  4. Choose a date range and press View again to see detailed insights.
