How to Send a Targeted SMS Using Shortcuts and Marketing in the Cloud
This guide explains how to create and send a one-time SMS blast to a targeted list of clients using Shortcuts.
Step 1: Create a Targeted Client List in Shortcuts Fusion
Access the Marketing Tools
- Open Shortcuts Fusion and navigate to Tools > Marketing.
- In the Marketing screen, filter your client list based on:
- Products/Services Purchased or Not Purchased
- Client Demographics (e.g., location, frequency of visits, spend value, referrals, or non-returning clients).
Filter and Refine the List

Select your desired criteria. For example, to target non-returning clients:
- Choose a date range.
- Refine further by excluding children or clients with missing mobile numbers.
- Optionally, filter by clients with or without future appointments.

Click Compute to generate the list.
Save the List
- Click the Save icon.
- Rename the list and save it as a
.txt
file in an easily accessible location (e.g., your desktop).
Step 2: Log in to Shortcuts Marketing
- Open your web browser and navigate to pos.shortcutssoftware.com.
- Log in using your Shortcuts credentials.
- Go to Menu > Marketing.
Step 3: Create and Draft Your SMS Campaign
Configure SMS Settings
- Select the SMS option in the marketing screen.
- Confirm your sending schedule (e.g., immediate delivery).
Write Your SMS
- Enter your message in the text box.
- Use Insert Fields (e.g., business name) to personalize the message.
- Monitor your character count:
- Each message allows up to 138 characters, including the opt-out message.
- If you exceed this limit, additional charges will apply.
Test Your Campaign
- Click Send Test to preview the message.
- Enter your phone number and verify the message format and functionality (e.g., links to booking pages).
Step 4: Upload and Send Your SMS
- Select Choose File and upload the
.txt
file containing your client list. - Verify the number of recipients and ensure the character count is within limits.
- Click Send Now to deliver your SMS blast.
