How to Create and Manage Contraindications in Shortcuts

Contraindications are essential for ensuring client safety and compliance when delivering specific services or selling certain products. This guide explains how to create, configure, and apply contraindications.

Creating a New Contraindication

  1. Access the Setup Menu

    • Navigate to the Setup section (bottom right corner).
    • Select Contraindications.
  2. Add a New Contraindication

    • Click New (bottom left corner).
    • Enter the name of the contraindication. For example, "Patch Test."
  3. Add Details

    • Description: Provide additional context about the contraindication.
    • Question: Enter a clear question related to the contraindication, e.g., "Did the skin have a reaction to the patch test?".
  4. Set Response Options

    • Pass Response: Define the response indicating no issues (e.g., "No").
    • Fail Response: Specify the response indicating a problem (e.g., "Yes").
    • Pending Response: Use this for incomplete actions, such as a patch test not yet performed.
  5. Define Validity Period

    • Set a duration for how long the contraindication remains valid (e.g., 365 days).
    • Add a renewal reminder timeframe (e.g., 30 days before expiration).
  6. Link to Products or Services

    • Global Application: Tick the box if the contraindication applies to all products and services.
    • Specific Application: Untick the box and manually select relevant products or services.

Configuring Contraindication Actions

Choose how the system responds when a contraindication is triggered:

  • Allow: Permits booking or purchase even if the response fails.
  • Warning: Displays a warning message but allows the booking.
  • Waiver Signoff: Prompts a client waiver before proceeding.
  • Deny: Prevents the booking or purchase if the response fails.

Additional Options:

  • Display the contraindication on the client’s profile card.
  • Require staff sign-off for acknowledgment.

Linking Contraindications to Services or Products

  1. Edit the Contraindication

    • Select the contraindication from the list.
    • Link it to specific services or products.
  2. Batch Linking

    • To link an entire category (e.g., "Color Services"), select the category and click Add.
  3. Save Changes

    • Press Done to save your selections.

Using Contraindications During Bookings

  1. Identify Contraindications

    • Services linked to contraindications display an icon during booking.
  2. Complete the Contraindication Question

    • Answer the contraindication question (e.g., "No" for no reaction).
    • If required, sign off the response.
  3. Proceed with the Booking

    • Upon passing the contraindication, a green tick appears, allowing the booking to proceed.
