Shortcuts Marketing Plus: Creating a "Birthday" Campaign Using a Template
This guide walks you through creating an automated birthday email campaign using a pre-designed template. Follow these steps to ensure your campaign is engaging, personalized, and effective.
Step 1: Create a new Campaign

Select Template Choose a design

Select your pre saved "birthday" template or choose one from the shortcuts library.
- Select use this design.
Step 2: Layout
- Subject Heading:

- Create a client-facing subject line.
- Use personalization (e.g., client names) to capture attention.
- Editing Templates:
- Use the editor to customize the template. Note that changes here will only apply to this campaign and not update the saved library template.
- Save and continue
Step 3: Send Options
- Campaign Name: Choose a clear, descriptive name for internal tracking.
- Choose the Frequency "Set and Forget" (ongoing)
- Promotion based on the Event: Select "date of birth" as the trigger for sending.
- Choose Trigger is an "anniversary" of this date
- Set the interval (e.g., exactly on client’s birth date).
- Send Schedule:
- Define a start and end date for the campaign.
- Specify the time of day emails will be sent.
- Enable deduplication to prevent clients from receiving multiple emails.
- Save and Continue
Step 4: Demographics
The only demographic you could add here is Gender if this is applicable.

Add a scenario to include only clients without a future appointment:

Choose Core Demographic > Personal details > Gender > is > Male/Female.

Step 5: Promotions Codes
- Promotion Codes: Add a promotion code to track campaign ROI if applicable.
Step 6: Testing and Activating the Campaign
- Send Test Emails:
- Send a test email to yourself or other team members.
- Review subject lines, proofread content, and check all links for functionality.
- Confirm Accuracy: Tick the confirmation boxes to ensure everything is correct.
- Activate Campaign: Once satisfied, press "Activate." The campaign will begin automatically at the scheduled time.
