Data Agent Overview
The Data Agent is a critical communication tool in Shortcuts Enterprise Manager, enabling seamless data exchange between head offices and individual sites.
Key Features and Benefits
- Two-Way Communication: Sends transactional data from individual sites to the head office and receives configuration updates.
- Regular Updates: Ensures both ends have up-to-date information by synchronizing data at defined intervals.

- Verify the Shortcuts Services Manager: Ensure the Shortcuts Online Services icon is in the system tray
(bottom right of the Windows taskbar). If missing:
- Open the Windows Start menu.
- Type in Shortcuts Services Manager.
- Click on the Shortcuts Services Manager icon
and choose Connect Now under Data Agent options.Error Management: Tracks and resolves data transfer issues, ensuring smooth operations even during internet interruptions.
Indicators and Troubleshooting
The Data Agent uses intuitive icons to display its status:
- Green Arrows: Data transfer in progress.
- Blue/Red Arrows: Standby mode (normal operation).
- Red Arrows: Communication error. Check your internet connection and attempt manual reconnection.
- Red "X": Data Agent not installed. Contact Shortcuts support for assistance.
Setting Up the Data Agent
Manually Connecting the Data Agent
- Verify the Shortcuts Services Manager: Ensure the Shortcuts Online Services icon is in the system tray
Configuring the Synchronization Schedule
- Open the Shortcuts Services Manager from the system tray.
- Expand the Data Agent options and select Configure Service.
- Set the synchronization frequency:
- Recommended: Every 20 minutes.
- Alternatively, schedule daily synchronisation at a specified time.
- Apply changes to save the configuration.
