Customizing Visual Options in Shortcuts
This guide provides a step-by-step overview of how to customize the visual options in Shortcuts.
Accessing Visual Options
To change visual settings:

Navigate to Setup:
- Locate the Setup option in the navigation panel on the right-hand side.
- Select Configuration from the menu.

Open General Settings:
- Under the General tab on the left-hand side, find the Visual Options section. You may have to scroll down on the list by clicking the down arrow.
Key Customization Features
Themes
- Light Theme: Default setting for a brighter interface.
- Dark Theme: Ideal for low-light environments.
- When switching to the dark theme, you will be prompted to close Shortcuts. Upon reopening, the new theme will apply.
Additional Visual Settings
- Time Display: Shows the current time in the top-right corner.
- Auto-Complete: Automatically fills fields, such as when searching for a name.
- Flick Scrolling: Enables smooth scrolling through lists and rosters.
- Virtual Keyboard: Activates an on-screen keyboard for touch-screen devices.
- Pop-Up Fade Effects: Adds visual effects to pop-up windows.
- Overlay Gradient: Shades the appointment book to indicate different times of the day.
- Curved Corners: Makes appointment and task blocks rounded for a softer visual appearance.
- Transparent Appointments: Improves visibility of overlapping appointments.
- Roster Colors:
- Assign colors to roster entries (e.g., holidays appear in green, audio sessions in red).
- Customize by clicking on the color box next to each roster type.
Applying Changes
- After making changes, click Done.
- Navigate to the main menu and select Exit to close Shortcuts.
- Reopen Shortcuts to apply the new settings.
Example Adjustments
- If “Lucy” has a holiday, the roster entry displays as green text labeled Holiday.
- To adjust visual features like rounded appointment blocks or transparent appointments, tick the corresponding boxes in the Visual Options menu.
