Adding New Services & Service Categories
Expanding your service menu in Shortcuts software is a straightforward process that enables you to introduce new offerings and make them available for online booking.
Steps to Add a New Service
1. Access the Services Menu

Navigate to the Setup tab on the right-hand side of the screen.

Click on the Services button.
2. Create a New Service Category

At the top of the screen, select the word Business to ensure you're in the correct section.

Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click New.

Enter the name of the new category (e.g., Massage Services).
3. Add Service Reports Category
- At the bottom of the screen, select on Rpts Categ
- Select one of the Rpts lines and enter name of category eg. Hair Services, Nail Services, Styling, etc.
- Press Save
4. Add a Specific Service

Once the category is created, click New again within that category.

Enter the details for the new service, such as:

Service Name (e.g., 60-Minute Massage).

Description: Provide an overview of what the service includes.
- Click on 1st block for service name to appear
- Time: Specify the number of minutes it will take to perform the service (e.g., 60 minutes).
- Break: If a break time is required, type in the relevant break time
- Sell price: Enter the service price.
- Points: if you are not using employee point type in 0

Time:
Type in the period of time you want to allocate for this service block. The
time must be a multiple of the chosen appointment interval. The default appointment book
interval is 15 minutes; this can be changed in the Appointment Book Setup screen (see
“Appointment Interval” video)
Break:
If a break time is required, type in the relevant break time. A break time
refers to the period of time to be allocated after a service block before another service block
can be performed (e.g. processing time for a treatment). The break time must be a multiple of
the chosen appointment interval. If no break is required, type 0
Costs:
If the service block has any associated costs with it (e.g. the cost of a product that is used in the service), you can enter the cost into the Costs field. Please note that figures entered into this field do not affect financial transactions in Shortcuts and are not reported on. In most cases, you would leave this field blank, type in 0
If you are using employee incentive points, use the keyboard to type in the number of points
this service block is worth. If you are not using points, type in 0
Assign the service to a Reporting Category for tracking purposes:
5. Finalize and Save

Review the service details.

Click Done to save the service.
