Understanding the difference between Online Booking Confirmations, Appointment Acknowledgments, and SMS Confirmations and how they work together

This article covers the various scenarios where each communicaiton will send and when it will send. 

Online booking confirmation email versus appointment Acknowledgement email.

  • Standard Online Booking email is sent directly after an appointment has been made via Online Booking or in the Essential Beauty App. Note: despite the name, this email just acknowledges they have made an appointment.
  • Appointment Acknowledgement email is sent for all appointments created whether they are booked via online booking/app or booked in salon. They are sent after the appointment has been made or moved (most clients set this up to be sent 5 minutes after the appointment is made, but you can configure that timing in cloud).
  • SMS Confirmations – sent to all clients opted in. Integrated with Shortcuts Appointment Book where a clients reply via SMS updates the appointment status.

Opt in/out of Appointment Acknowledgement emails and SMS are based on Receive appointment reminders via tick box. Below is what an employee will see in the software.
